The polishing powder that I’m using is dulling the marble when I polish. What’s wrong?

There are several reasons why the polishing powder is dulling the marble. First, check to see if the powder you are using is a marble polishing powder and not granite polishing powder. Granite powders do not work effectively on marble and may dull marble surfaces. Second, check the label or MSDS and see if the powder has oxalic acid. Oxalic acid is an ingredient in most marble polishes that is necessary to polish most marble. If the powder does not have oxalic acid then it may not be working. Try using a different polishing powder.

TIP Try polishing until the slurry is completely dry. Start wet as you would normally and then work until dry. This technique will sometimes polish a difficult marble.
