I have been hired to grind a green marble tile floor. The problem is that all the corners of the tiles are curled upward. Why did this happen and can I grind the tile without a problem.

There is only one solution for this problem--replace the tiles. Some green marbles are very susceptible to curling when they are installed using a water based setting material. The installer should have used a water-less setting material such as epoxy. If you try to grind this floor you will be adding more water and the tiles may curl again.

TIP If you must hone and polish a green marble tile use as little water as possible and do not allow the water to puddle on the surface. It may also be a good idea to seal the floor with a silicone impregnator several days before honing.
