That’s a difficult question to answer but generally you will need enough water to keep the diamonds from clogging with slurry and enough to keep them lubricated and cool. The amount of water will also depend on the grit size, the speed of the machine and the type of diamond used. Generally you will need more water at the lower grits and less water on the higher grits.
TIP Most machines tend to throw water in all directions making it necessary to use more water. To conserve the amount of water necessary, place a plastic splash guard around the shroud of your buffer.
