The procedure depends on how long the nail polish has been allowed to set. First, try removing it with acetone and a clean rag. If it has dried completely, it may be necessary to scrape the polish with a sharp razor blade, followed by cleaning with acetone. If the fingernail polish has stained the granite you will need to apply a poultice using poultice powder and a solvent such as mineral spirits or toluene.
TIP If the stain is deep it may require several poultices and a stronger solvent. Try using Methylene chloride.
