Can cracks in terrazzo be repaired? How?

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

Yes, cracks can be repaired. Depending on the width of the crack, it can be filled with a polyester resin. If the crack is small, clean it thoroughly with acetone, making sure to remove all dirt; a dental pick may prove useful here. After the crack is clean, mix a polyester fill (available at marble supply houses) and work it into the crack with a razor blade or flat-blade trowel. For a small crack, I would suggest using a clear polyester. If you are uncomfortable with this procedure I would suggest calling in a professional.

TIP Polyesters can be difficult to work with if you need to repair very large cracks. To repair large cracks you may want to use a colored Portland cement to fill the cracks. If the cracks are wide enough you can add some marble chips to help hide the repair.
