To answer your question simply, yes, it is possible, but requires a great deal of experience and is very time consuming. At the time of this writing there are only several companies that can blend black granite with a factory appearance. The technology in granite polishing is advancing and hopefully within the next few years it will be as easy to polish black granite as it is to polish marble. Until that time I would suggest performing a small test patch and tell the customer that you can improve the appearance but more than likely cannot get it perfect.
