Excess Travertine Sealer Should Be Removed

Q. My bathroom needs to be stripped and resealed. The brand new travertine was sealed with a water-based sealant by the contractor, and it has turned the beautiful tile into a mess. I have 160 sq ft on the floor, 100 sq ft on shower walls, and 28 sq ft on the shower floor. The house is in Sorrento, FL. I am getting conflicting stories on what process can be used. Could you find me a guru to solve this problem?

 

A. It sounds to me like sealer was left on the top of the stone. When sealing stone, all sealer on the surface needs to be removed before it dries or you will end up with a dull, blotchy mess.
