Q. How do I treat an oily stain on my granite or marble?

A. For oily stains our favorite is acetone, which is available at any hardware or paint store. Forget your nail polish remover. Some of them contain other chemicals, and others contain no acetone what-so-ever. Be sure to take all appropriate precautions when using chemicals. For further reading refer to our Marble Page or our Granite Page. You can access our free, downloadable Stone and Tile Care Guide here

For biological stains use regular household bleach.
