Restoration of Crema Marfil

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

Q.  I have a new home (1 year old). I chose to have crema marfil marble installed in the master bath. The entire floor and the walk-in shower are crema marfil. Neither the installer or the contractor gave me any warning about care of the stone and after one year of use I've got problems. I inadvertently used a spray cleaner with bleach on areas of the floor to spot clean and have etching in those areas. In the shower I have religiously used Tilex after every shower use and the walls from head level down or so are dull and streaked. I heard that these problems could be resolved (hopefully) by applying a polishing paste with a buffer. I would like to get your opinion on this method and advise on the maintenance of the crema marfil thereafter. Thank you.

A. Unfortunately, it sounds like it may be too far gone for this. I would suggest you call in a professional. If you would like information on stone and tile contractors in your area, contact us.
As far as care afterwards, DO NOT the product you used or any other harsh cleaner.
