How to Remove Dull Spots on Marble

Q. I would like information on how to remove water etches (?) spots that are not smooth when I run my finger over the spot. It is a honed finish and the spots are more like water spots. There is no colored stain, it is more like dull spots scattered through out the marble. Thanks.

A. Although there are polishing compounds that can be used to remove minor etching, in your case, DIY methods would be inadvisable for two reasons. 1. Your honed finish will not be even, because the places where you removed the etch will be more polished than honed. 2. DIY etch removal is only ideal when the etch damage is covering a limited area.
