Is it possible to polish a terrazzo floor like marble?

Terrazzo is in fact a marble floor. Terrazzo is comprised of marble chips mixed with Portland cement and polishes just like a marble floor. Many terrazzo contractors hone the terrazzo to about a 80 or 120 grit and apply a wax coating. If you continue to hone the terrazzo with higher grits and then polish with polishing powder it will take on a similar polish as marble.

FYI There are now terrazzo floors that are made with epoxy resins instead of Portland cement. If you run across one of these epoxy terrazzo floors you may find it difficult to hone with diamonds.
