Can I remove stains, or etch marks, from a natural stone floor?

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

Q. I have a natural stone floor in a house I was renting. I was attempting to clean the grout and I bought a grout cleaner. I used it and now it looks like it has lightened (almost bleached to a degree) the stone where it touched it. I looked on the back of the bottle and it says not to use it on natural stone. Bad mistake. Anyways is there a way to try and fix this? I scrubbed it hard in a few spots and it seemed to look better. Do you sell any products for this? Thanks!

A. What you are describing are most likely etch marks. If the etching is not too severe, you can't feel the damage with your fingertips, try using etch remover, such as a marble polish. Be sure to follow label instructions. For deeper etch marks, you will need to contact a professional stone and tile restoration contractor. If you don't already have a PRO, contact us.
