How to Remove Stains and Etching on a Marble Vanity

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes
Q.  I have stains and etch damage on my marble vanity. Can I remove this myself or is this a job for a professional? An area the size of a tennis ball is a bit darker as a liquid soap container tipped over and wasn't seen for a while. The surface there feels the same as the counter. The other area, about a square foot, is dulled from my wife using makeup. This area feels a bit rougher.

A.  If we were just dealing with the soap stain or a small area with minor etch damage, then we could make DIY recommendations. But since the etch damage is deep (as is likely because of the rough texture) and covering a large surface area, this will be a job for a professional restoration contractor.
