How To Remove WD-40 Stain On Unsealed Limestone

Estimated Reading Time: 1 Minutes

Q. How would I remove a WD40 stain from an unsealed limestone hearth?

A.  To remove WD-40 from unsealed limestone, we recommend the poultice method of stain removal. Mix a good degreaser, which can be purchased at Home Depot or Lowe’s, with an absorbent medium, such as household flour. Apply the poultice paste to the stained area and allow it to dry. Carefully scrape the dry poultice with a straight razor, and clean the area with stone-safe pH-neutral cleaner. Repeat this process as many time as necessary to completely remove the stain. Have a look at our Stain Management App, for more information.  If you are unable to remove the stain, contact a professional stone restoration contractor. To find one near you, contact us. Good luck!
