Is it possible to darken a honed granite without polishing? My customer wants the granite to remain honed but would like the color it has when polished.

Yes, you can darken the granite by applying a special darkening sealer. These are known as color enhances and can be purchased at stone equipment and maintenance suppliers. You can also use the mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Start with a fifty fifty mixture. Apply the solution to the granite with a rag and wipe into the surface. Do not allow the solution to puddle on the surface. After you’ve rubbed in the solution, wipe the excess off with a dry rag. This is important since the linseed oil can dry on

CAUTION Linseed oil can be very flammable. Be sure you dispose of the rags you use in a metal container. Soaked linseed oil rags have been known to spontaneously combust, resulting in a fire.
