Several years ago we had the grout on our ceramic tile floor colored. Now the color is peeling off, and it looks terrible. Can I have it recolored?

Estimated Reading Time: < 1 Minute

Yes, it is possible to recolor the grout, but it needs to be thoroughly cleaned before re-coloring. If possible, find out what brand and type of coloring was used, and re-apply the same brand or type.

TIP Before attempting to recolor the grout make sure it has not been sealed. This may be the reason the coloring is peeling. To test place several drops of water on an area of the grout where the color has peeled. If the water beads or does not penetrate the grout in several minutes, you may not be able to color the grout.
